Brother Bobby (Bob) Taylor

Brother Bobby (Bob) Taylor

In 1976 a group of Christians from the Forest Park congregation determined that there was a need for a congregation of the Lord’s church in the Clayton County seat. Bob and Donna Taylor were among the group who planted the Tara congregation by first meeting at the Boy’s Club in the city of Jonesboro. The legacy of that decision continues today as the church, which now meets at 1820 Highway 138, continues to serve the spiritual needs of souls in and around the city of Jonesboro. Heaven will reveal the eternal impact the work started by Bob and others has had and will continue to have on the eternal destiny of countless souls.

Among those who obeyed the gospel and became a child of God was Mary Smith, mother of Katie Kirkland. Eventually Katie obeyed the gospel and became a member of the congregation as well. She continues to serve the Lord faithfully as a member of the Tara family. Her father became a Christian as well and was faithful till his death.

Bob’s impact on my life has been profound as well. When in 1991 my wife and I decided to move here to work with Tara it was Bob and Donna who graciously opened their home to me. For two months they accommodated me, a stranger to them, while I was looking for a place for my family to live. They treated me and my family as if we were their family. After we were settled here in Georgia, my family and I enjoyed many periods of fellowship with Bob and Donna.

Bob was always one of the biggest supporters of my efforts to preach the gospel both in Georgia and worldwide. At Tara he regularly participated in the weekly visitation program. Every Monday night Bob could be counted on to be out visiting with one of the other men of the congregation.

One life can have a tremendous impact on the eternal destiny of untold numbers of people for generations to come. As stated before, only heaven will reveal the impact Bob Taylor’s life has had in the spiritual lives of souls once lost in sin. To God be the glory forever and ever, Amen.
