Life is made up of decisions—physical, material, and spiritual.
There are the daily, routine decisions such as when to get up and go to bed, what we will wear, and what we will eat. We decide where we will shop and how much we will spend.
There are lifetime decisions such as education and career, who we will marry, where we will live, and how we will rear our children.
And there are spiritual or eternal decisions involving the soul. Becoming a Christian is a decision, and living faithfully is a decision. Every temptation we resist—or yield to—is a decision.
Of course, some decisions are good and some are bad. The good ones bless us, and the bad ones curse us. We are rewarded, or we suffer the consequences. Consider the following decisions we all must make:
1. How We Begin and End Each Day
Either with prayer or without it.
“Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (I Thess. 5:17-18)
Which will it be for you today?
2. How We Spend the Lord’s Day
Either for self or for the Lord.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33)
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some…” (Heb. 10:25)
How do you spend the Lord’s day?
3. To Which Class of People We Belong
Either to the saved or the unsaved.
“…and the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:47)
“Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure…” (II Pet. 1:10)
To which class of people do you belong?
4. Which Master We Will Serve
Either God or Satan.
“…As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
“You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.” (Matt. 4:10)
Which Master do you serve?
5. Which Road We Travel
Either the broad way or the narrow way.
“…For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matt. 7:13-14)
Which road are you traveling?
6. Which Death We Will Die
Either in the Lord or in our sins.
“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins…having no hope and without God in the world.” (Eph. 2:1,12)
“…Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on…that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” (Rev. 14:13)
How will you die?
7. Where We Will Be in Eternity
Either in heaven or in hell.
“…for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” (John 5:28-29)
Where will you be in eternity?
Life is a series of decisions—and eternity depends on the choices we make.
