Lesson Eight:

The Tabernacle – A picture of Christ and Redemption

Scripture: Exodus chapters 25 to 30

I. Things concerning the tabernacle were a shadow of things to come

    (Heb. 8:3-5 Heb. 9:9, 24 Heb. 10:1)

II. The High Priest represents Christ (Heb. 3:1-2 Heb. 4:14-16 Heb. 8:1-2)

III. The priesthood represents Christians (I Pet. 2:5,9)

IV. Alter of burnt offering represents sacrificing self (Rom. 12:1)

V. Water laver represents baptism (Ex. 30:17-21 Acts 2:41,47 Heb. 10:19-25)

VI. Holy place represents church (Heb. 9:6)

VII. Table of shewbread represents the Lord’s Supper (Matt. 12:4 Luke 6:4)

VIII. Candlestick represents the word of truth (II Pet. 2:9 II Cor. 4:1-4)

VIII. Veil represents separation of the people from God (Matt. 27:50-53 Heb. 10:18-22)

IX. Alter of incense represents Christ’s sacrifice and our prayers (Heb. 9:11,12 Rev. 8:1-4)

X. Ark with the mercy seat represents God’s throne (containing. . . .)

    A. Law of the testimony (lead)

    B. Manna (feed)

    C. Aaron’s rod (protect)

Conclusion: In this study we have only begun to experience the symbolism of the tabernacle. Much more can be gained in our continued personal study.

Conclusion: In this study we have only begun to experience the symbolism of the tabernacle. Much more can be gained in our personal study.
